Dellro vs photo-first gallery platforms
Photo-first gallery platforms are excellent for delivering images, and many now accept video, but film is often an add-on with limits on length, size or quality. Dellro is built film-first and photo-equal, so a wedding's films stream in up to 4K and play on the TV, beside photo sets with slideshow, ZIP downloads and favourites.

If you are a photographer, a photo-first gallery has probably served you well. The question comes when film enters the picture, either because you have added a videographer or because your clients now expect both. This is where the starting point of a platform matters.
| Photo-first gallery platforms | Dellro gallery | |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | Built around photos | Built around films, with photos as equals |
| Film quality | Often capped below the source | Adaptive streaming up to 4K, encoded up to the source resolution |
| File size | Video often limited per file | Up to 500 GB per file, resumable uploads |
| Film presentation | Often a video tile inside a photo grid | Films in rows and sub-pages, with chapters and captions |
| On the TV | Often not a focus | TV page with a short code, plus AirPlay and Chromecast |
| Photo tools | Usually strong: sets, downloads, favourites | Photo sets, slideshow, lightbox, ZIP per set, favourites (paid plans) |
| Atmosphere | Usually a cover image | Muted background clip up to 30 seconds and music (Studio and Signature plans) |
| Release moment | Usually published when ready | Premiere with a countdown at a set moment (paid plans) |
When a photo-first platform is fine to use
- You deliver photos only, or film is a short clip at most.
- You rely on built-in print or album sales inside your gallery.
- Your workflow is built entirely around image proofing.
When a delivery gallery is better
When the film matters as much as the photos, it needs proper playback. Dellro's 4K film streaming uses an adaptive quality ladder of 2160p, 1440p, 1080p and 720p, so playback starts quickly and steps up as the connection allows. Photos are not an afterthought either: clients can heart their favourites and send the list to you for albums and prints.
- Hybrid studios that shoot photo and film and want one link per wedding. See hybrid studios.
- Photographers adding film who want it presented with the same care as their images.
- Couples who will watch on the TV, where a film-first player makes the difference.
Photos keep everything you rely on
Moving to a film-first gallery should not mean giving up the photo tools you know. Upload a folder and each subfolder becomes its own photo set. Couples browse with a slideshow or lightbox, download a ZIP per set if you allow it, and on paid plans send you their favourites for albums and prints. Your branding, layouts and privacy settings apply to the photos exactly as they do to the films.
Privacy works the same way for every file in the gallery. Choose a private draft, an open link, a password, personal access codes per guest or email sign-in for people you invite (the last two on paid plans). Galleries are never indexed by search engines, and if you revoke a guest or change the password, any paired TVs are signed out too.

Questions
- Is Dellro only for videographers?
- No. Dellro is film-first, but photo sets have slideshow, lightbox, ZIP downloads per set and favourites on paid plans, so it suits photographers and hybrid studios too.
- Can clients choose favourite photos?
- Yes, on paid plans. Clients heart photos and send the list to the studio, for albums and prints.
- What resolution do films stream in?
- Up to 4K. The quality ladder is 2160p, 1440p (for sources between 1440p and 4K), 1080p and 720p, and a film is only encoded up to its source resolution.
