Three-copy protection

Wedding video backup with three verified copies of every file

Dellro stores every wedding film and photo three times: a live copy for streaming and downloads, a locked copy under Object Lock that cannot be deleted or changed during its lock period, and a long-term vault copy of the original. A file shows as Protected only when all three copies match the fingerprint taken in your browser before upload.

The three copies behind every file

  • Live copy: the one that streams and downloads in the gallery
  • Locked copy: held under Object Lock, so it cannot be deleted or changed during its lock period, not even by Dellro
  • Vault copy: a long-term copy of the original file

Three copies in different roles means one mistake, one bad disk or one accidental deletion does not decide whether a couple still has their wedding film.

Fingerprinted before it leaves your machine

Before a file uploads, your browser calculates its SHA-256 fingerprint. That fingerprint becomes the reference every copy is checked against. A file is marked Protected only when all three stored copies match it exactly, so the label means something specific rather than a promise.

  1. 1FingerprintYour browser calculates the SHA-256 fingerprint of each file before upload.
  2. 2Store three timesThe file is written to the live copy, the locked copy and the vault copy.
  3. 3VerifyWhen all three copies match the fingerprint, the file shows as Protected.
  4. 4Re-check weeklyCopies are re-checked on a weekly schedule, and a missing or damaged copy is rebuilt automatically from a good one.

Safe storage for wedding films over the long term

After 12 months the live copy of an original is retired. The original stays in the locked and vault copies, and galleries keep playing. This is what lets Dellro keep wedding films safe for years without asking you to manage the storage yourself. The downloads page explains what this means for couples saving their originals.

Beyond the files

Behind the files, the database is backed up nightly with encryption. Duplicate files already in a gallery are not stored twice, which keeps your upload allowance for new work.

How this fits your own archive

Three verified copies make Dellro a dependable home for delivered work, and it sits comfortably alongside the drives in your studio. Our guide on how long to keep wedding footage covers a sensible retention plan, and large file uploads explains how big masters get to the three copies in the first place.

What the weekly checks catch

Storage problems are rarely loud. A copy can go missing or become damaged without anyone noticing until the day it is needed. Dellro re-checks each copy against its fingerprint on a weekly schedule, and if one is missing or damaged it is rebuilt automatically from a good copy, before anyone has to ask. The Protected label only stands when every copy matches again.

Deliver knowing every file is checked, locked and rebuilt if needed. See pricing or create your studio.
